Happy Birthday! The "STL Line 13" is celebrating its first anniversary today. Exactly one year ago, the self-driving bus started operating in Mühlental. Time for a look back.

An intelligent voice assistant for the "STL Line 13"

The "STL Line 13" has one more innovative application. From April 2024, Ivy, an artificial voice assistant, will be travelling on the self-driving bus and answering passengers' questions.

Test operation STL Line 13 in the evening

From 8 to 20 January 2024, the STL Line 13 will also run in the evenings between 19:00 and 22:00 in addition to the usual operation over lunchtime.

Year 2023 in Review

On 27 December 2023, "STL Line 13" celebrates its 200th day of operation! At the same time, we look back on an exciting and eventful 2023.

Great interest from Zurich in the "STL Line 13"

After 6 months of operation, the STL already has a wealth of knowledge from "STL Line 13". The Zurich Office for Economy and Labour (AWA) therefore visited us in Mühlental on 21 November 2023 and gained an insight into the pilot project.

"Rhyder" visits Toyota Switzerland

Toyota Switzerland AG invited the Swiss Transit Lab to present its pilot project at its headquarters in Safenwil on 19 October 2023. We met with great interest with our findings from "STL Line 13".

Huawei and European mobile operators visit the STL

The operation of automated bus lines will require a high volume of data transmissions in the future. This was precisely the topic of Huawei's visit with customers from all over Europe to the Swiss Transit Lab at the end of September.

The STL Line 13 bus is now called "Rhyder"

A few weeks ago, the people of Schaffhausen had the opportunity to submit creative name suggestions for our self-driving bus of the "STL Line 13". Now we have decided on the name "Rhyder".

With the "STL Line 13" to the Digital Days 2023

On Thursday, 7 September 2023, the self-driving bus of the "STL Line 13" will take you to the Digital Day at the Stahlgiesserei and back to Schaffhausen station. The line will be running exceptionally on this day between 10:00 and 18:00.

The STL is also known in China

In June 2023, the Swiss Transit Lab welcomed two delegations from China who wanted to get to know the Schaffhausen pilot project.

Also Baden-Württemberg is curious

On May 15th 2023, the STL welcomed a high-ranking delegation led by Minister of Transport Winfried Hermann from Baden-Württemberg. They tested the self-driving bus line and talked about the significance of the development project for the mobility of the future.

Contest - Name our bus!

What our self-driving bus is still missing is a cool name. By the end of May 2023, we had received over 65 suggestions, which we are now evaluating.

The "STL Line 13" is open!

On April 28th 2023, the "STL Line 13" was opened at the Stahlgiesserei in Schaffhausen. From now on, the self-driving bus runs three times an hour between Schaffhausen station and the Stahlgiesserei from Monday to Saturday. The service is available free of charge to all interested parties.

First Virtual Journey of the STL Line 13

The highlight of the launch event on 24 March 2023 was definitely the first virtual ride of the 'STL Line 13' on the simulated route in Schaffhausen. Soon the self-driving minibus will conquer the real streets of Schaffhausen.

The Swiss Transit Lab (STL) in Schaffhausen is about to take another step in the development of automated mobility in public transport. With the pilot project "STL Line 13", an automated bus operation in the city center of Schaffhausen is to be opened this year for the application of new technologies. The vehicle for this purpose arrived in Schaffhausen these days and was presented.

The vehicle for the first deployment of dual-mode technologies on Swiss roads has arrived in Switzerland.

This marks an important milestone in the "STL Line 13" project. The vehicle and the project will be presented to the media, partners and sponsors on August 26.

Swiss Mechatronics Day 2022

On June 30, the Swiss Mechatronics Day will take place at Technopark Zurich. The day combines a top-class program of speeches with an exhibition. The unifying element is the joy of mechatronic solutions. The Swiss Transit Lab will present itself and its projects at the event as part of the exhibition.

«Open Doors» project at the topsoft trade fair 2022

On 22 and 23 June, the topsoft trade fair will take place in the Umweltarena Spreitenbach. The Swiss Transit Lab will be there and will present the "Open Doors" project in a lecture. At the same time, two members of the Swiss Transit Lab, Weidmüller Schweiz AG and Batix Schweiz AG, will be on site to answer questions about the project at stand 29.

Finnish Technology for Swiss Roads

The Swiss Transit Lab (STL) is launching another pilot project with line 13. Together with the Finnish company Sensible 4, the STL is upgrading a standard Toyota with sensor technology for automated driving (Level 4).
