«Open Doors» project at the topsoft trade fair 2022

Many people talk about digitalisation. Only a few show the concrete added value. Experiencing digital reality live and putting it to profitable use in practice - that's what the topsoft IT trade fair is all about. A full programme awaits visitors over two days at the Umwelt Arena Schweiz in Spreitenbach. Topic clusters, showcases, workshops, presentations, solutions and technologies are just as much a part of it as networking and expert discussions. You can look forward to an event where digitisation and business take centre stage.

In the presentation, you will learn how IoT can help people with limited mobility in their everyday lives - and what exactly this has to do with self-driving vehicles.

Functions implemented with "Internet of Things" technologies allow interaction between humans and any electronic systems networked via them, as well as between the systems themselves. They can also support humans in their activities. The ever-smaller embedded computers are intended to support people without distracting or even attracting attention.
 
This is exactly what the "OpenDoors" project in Schaffhausen makes possible. People with disabilities can signal to the bus driver of the Schaffhausen public transport company by pressing a button that the ramp is needed at the next stop for an easier exit.

From the moment the button is pressed, a system starts working - with the aim that when the person with a disability heads for the doors of the lift at Schaffhausen station, the doors of the lift open fully automatically at exactly the right moment and facilitate access.
 
The presentation shows how the project came about, what it has to do with autonomously driving vehicles and why everything seems so simple in the end.
